Keeping nose to the grindstone

It has been a while since my last post, I could probably come up with a dozen excuses... mainly blog block I guess!  I have been eating my lean cusines, and walking my stairs as excersize... We have been a one car family, so I walked to Cub Scouts on last Wednesday.  My daughter and I are going to  check Curves out today, anyone have any feedback?  Have you tried Curved workout before, likes dislikes?  We have one close to us, and my daughters dr. suggested it, not a meat market like Gold's Gym and not freezing like the weather outside!  It is supposed to snow every other day for the next week, the wind was blowing so hard this morning eveyohenes trash cans were blown over... we got a new to us car this weekend, and it does not fit in the garage, so we have to do a car shuffle in the morning when David leaves for work!  He is frusterated with his progress so far, he goes into the gym Mon-Fri at work and he is not losing.  We have a Stouffer's frozen food outlet in the next town over and it is wonderful for pre-made diet food, they have Lean Cusines from 1.19-1.99 when they are usually 2.79-2.50 at the grocery store, so we stocked up again this weekend.  They have less of a variety than the grocers freezer, but everytime you go in there is something different!  So, that is a good way to stay on track for lunches, oatmeal for breakfast, or toast with peanut butter or cheese... I think that is what I will have this morning!  We are in the land of the sickies right now, everyone is complaining of sore throats and headaches, stuffy noses, and with 7 in the family it seems to go round and round never, EVER leaving!  David is down 4 pounds and I am down 3, so keep trudging along... HAVE A GOOD WEEK EVERYONE!

Beginning of our SECOND week!

Well, we have been at this for a whole week and all I can say is easier said than done Sad David is doing great, he has the opportunity to work out at work every morning!  he has been doing well and has lost 4 pounds!  I am too nervous to get on the scale as my eating went well during the week, but took a nose dive on the weekend.  We celebrated David's 35th birthday on Sunday... we had Mexican on Friday night, Training Table and Popcorn at the movies, and Burritos and Layered Pudding Dessert on Sunday, not healthy eating at all.  So, back in the saddle today I had some frusterations and set backs which makes me want to reach for foods. This day last year I was hospitalized for 2 weeks and subsequently in outpatient treatment for my BiPolar Disorder.  We have lived in UT for 5 months now (California girl) and it has been 6 since I have seen my Psychiatrist.  I have had meds for most of the time, but other meds I have not had for a while.  Life has been a roller coaster, that's life but I experience highs and lows, higher and lower.  My moods have been all over the place.  Long story short, I had an appointment scheduled today and they had scheduled me for a follow up visit, 15 minutes, instead of an initial visit 45 minutes.  So, basically I was forced to rescedule!  Which would not be a big deal, except I am out of meds, I had to take time off work, the closest Dr. is an hour away, and I have to arrange child care for my almost 3 year old!  I lost it!  I am going back next week, but I am having a hard time seeing that light when I know how it feels to be off meds even for a couple days.  Not conducive to my quest for well being... Things have got to get better and I need to weigh myself soon, next week will be better - It has to be!

SECOND DAY THOUGHTS

It is that start of our second day, Bailey (our 11 year old) has gotten bit by the losing bug!  She is packing her lunch for school this morning, fresh vegies and yogurt!  I think the biggest struggle is cooking healthy, inexdpensively for a family 7!  So, if anyone has GOOD SOLUTIONS to this I would appreciate the help.  David has been going into the gym at work every work day for  a week and is frusterated because he gained a pound, I told him his fat is converting to muscle.  Drinking tons of water when it is freezing outside is a struggle too!  We both have our drinking cups I need to drink 4 big cups to get my water in during the day, I just don't feel thirsty so I am forcing it!  Bailey ran up and down the stairs 7 times this morning!  IW as supposed to go on a walk yesterday after the kids got home and before dinner, but I forgot I had Cub Scout and I had to give a presentation on the PLedge of Allegience.  SO, on Wednesdays it will be hard to get that time back, it is dark before I get home, time to make dinner, etc.  I am a good excuse maker!  Bailey and I are going to make bread when the  kids get home from school today, so I will let you know how that goes.  We have a channel on TV that has 24 hours of workout shows, I think I may try one of those today.  Eating wen well yesterday -
Breakfast - Orange & Yogurt
Snack - Oatmeal
Lunch - Spinach & Mushroom Pizza (Lean Quisine)
Dinnner - Beef Stroganoff
Today I need to be more creative with dinner, Beef Stroganoff is not a super healthy choice! But, everything in moderation -  I need to work off some calories today!
HAVE A GOOD ONE!

Starting NEW!

David and I were watching THE BIGGEST LOSER COUPLES last night... we decided to commit to the challenge of the MILLION POUND MATCH UP!  We registered today and we are commited to LOSING and being at the finale in Los Angeles!  We started food diaries today, and David has a gym at work he goes to in the morning before his day starts.  Michelle will start out by walking the neighborhood to melt off those unwanted pounds!  Michelle has a family history of heart problems and is already at age 34 has a combined cholesterol of 525.  Her doctor has also challenged her to make a commitment to losing a steady 1 pound a week.  She does take Vytorin and Tricor to help with the bad cholestrol, and she is also taking meds to help keep her blood pressure in a normal range.  We want to provide a healthier example to our children and we want to live long healthy lives together!  THIS IS OUR NEW START!  Michelle's goal is 185 pounds lost and David 65! For a total of 250 pounds weight loss between the two of us... WE CAN DO IT and we are excited for the opportunity!  See our profile aka Christmas aka before aka never again picture, we will keep you updated!

I just wanted to say you WILL make it! I know there are times when you think you can't do it, or times when you think that you didn't do well, but if you are making the effort, you are a square ahead of where you once were! I can tell you what has gotten me this far, when I go out to dinner, I scope out the menu from home first, to see what I can and can't eat! There is almost always something that fits in for me. The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was portion control. After the first week, I no longer felt hungry, and I eat 6 times a day, and consume around 1400-1700 calories a day. It is a safe range to be in for me, and I am NEVER hungry, although I don't really now what true hunger even feels like anymore. A small blessing if you are doing calorie counting, 100 calorie packs! FANTASTIC snacks!
Best of luck to you both! You WILL succeed!
